Until recently, the HR department “managed” people as the “resources” of the corporation. But today’s “resources” have undergone a demographic shift: now a workforce typically consists of younger-generation employees as well individuals that are approaching retirement age. So the HR Department should perhaps be re-named to take into account the expanded range of needs of the “resources” as the “People Support Department”-- maybe even the “Caring Department”!
